Early Morning, King's Lynn Quay, Norfolk

An early morning jaunt along the quay in King's Lynn, Norfolk. A very peaceful and pleasant painting location. My main focus was the hazy atmosphere and the warm light. This location has lots of historic buildings, and I tried to paint them without fuss or too much detail. Painted on Saunders Waterford 300gms (140lb) rough paper.

Beach Huts, Old Hunstanton, Norfolk

Old Hunstanton, Norfolk, UK - 22" x 15"
This is from a workshop demo in 2012 at Old Hunstanton, Norfolk. I was taken by the repetition of triangles, rectangles and thick grasses amongst the sand dunes. These beach huts litter this part of the coast, and holiday-makers enjoy a wonderful location of sea, sand and sun in the summer months. Notice the bottom half of the painting is in warm shadow, throwing up the two figures next to the lightest part of the painting. Painted on Saunders Waterford rough paper 300 gms/140lb.
